The space
Baker's Cabin is in the country. Located about 25 minutes from Centerville, it makes for an easy weekend getaway from the Houston or Dallas areas.
As you drive from interstate, to highway, to county road to dirt road and over a single lane wooden bridge, you feel yourself start to unwind and relax.
This cabin is located on a private dirt road (too much rain can make things muddy). You'll be given gate access for entrance. As you drive down the dirt road, you'll find our light blue cabin on stilts. Because the cabin is raised, you have a great entertainment space sheltered from the weather. You can hang out, swing and play games all downstairs. We also have a firepit for cooler evenings.
Baker's Cabin is far from any city lights which makes for very dark nights and optimal star gazing.
Inside the cabin, you will feel transported to a Colorado mountain retreat - with pine tongue and groove throughout, a custom spiral staircase to the loft, large windows overlooking the property and a wood burning stove.
The cabin is about 480 sf downstairs+ 240 square foot loft. The room sizes are approximately:
- 100 sq ft kitchen area
- 190 sq ft living room area
- 100sq ft bedroom
- 60 sq ft bathroom
- 30 sq ft laundry area
The downstairs includes a private bedroom with queen bed, bathroom, full kitchen, living room and laundry. The loft has a queen bed, desk and loveseat recliner. The handcrafted spiral staircase is beautiful, and IT IS NARROW - requiring care. There is a large back porch that wraps to the front entry.
You must be comfortable with stairs to enjoy our cabin!
The property is 6-acres, with access to a pond and Keechi Creek for fishermen. If you're a hunter, this is a great home-base. You cannot hunt on this property.

Guest access
Our cabin is located on a gated private dirt road .
Guest access to the road is through a padlocked gate - you will get out of your car to unlock the gate.
Access to Baker's Cabin is through a keypad on the front door.
We will give you codes for both before arrival.

Baker's cabin is a remote cabin in the woods.
Cell service in this area is spotty.
Spectrum internet is provided. It is good for connecting to your phone for calls and texting, emails and streaming.
The cabin has a private well and septic system. The drinking water at the sink is filtered 4 times.
You will be in the forest - which means native animals like deer, fox, wild boar, raccoons are around - along with all the usual assortment of rodents and insects. Please keep trash in the bins and do not leave food out when you're away or at night. We do our best to keep the bugs outside, but you will encounter the occasional pest.
