The Cornwall Healthy Tourism Commitment
Tourism in Cornwall has taken a big leap in recent years. More and more people have ventured here to explore everything Cornwall has to offer. We know that for you as a local this brings both positives and negatives. We want to do our best to help with those aspects that can make it difficult. That’s why we’re committed to being a good partner to your local community and policymakers. Below you can read more about initiatives like our nuisance hotline and the UK Trust & Safety Alliance, and the reasons why we’re putting our full support behind a national registration system for short-term lets.
You can also meet locals Ellen, Jaxon, Jake and Katy, who share their experience of living here alongside the visitors who come every year.
New rules for ‘holiday lets’
We’re supporting the Government’s proposal to introduce an online nationwide registration system for all operators of short-term lets. This will create more visibility around ‘holiday lets’. We hope these regulations will put a stop to those who want to bend the rules so that short-term lets can bring a positive impact to local communities when managed in the right way.

Let’s talk about the housing crisis
We know that tourism is important for the Cornish economy but it can also impact locals’ way of life. We want to work with communities and policymakers to help improve the situation. This is why we support the introduction of new rules for ‘holiday lets’. A nationwide registration system will give local authorities the tools to know what is going on in their communities, and take action when needed.

Healthy tourism recovery is key
As domestic tourism continues to thrive, Airbnb is committed to being a good partner to communities like Cornwall, and we’ve taken action to help spread the benefits of tourism and minimise the negative impact that an increase in visitors can sometimes bring. That’s why we recently launched our Healthy Tourism Commitment, designed to support the sustainable recovery of the UK’s tourism sector.
